About Chimpanzee Cubs:

Chimpanzee cubs (also called infants) are born after an 8-month pregnancy and are completely dependent on their mothers for the first few years of life. Baby chimps cling to their mother's belly for the first 6 months, then ride on her back until about age 2. Chimp infants are incredibly playful and curious, learning through observation and play. They share 98.8% of their DNA with humans—making them our closest living relatives along with bonobos! Baby chimps learn essential skills by watching their mothers and other troop members, including how to use tools, which foods to eat, and social behaviors. Young chimps use sticks to fish for termites, rocks to crack nuts, and leaves as sponges—demonstrating remarkable intelligence and tool use. Chimpanzee cubs stay with their mothers for 5-7 years, forming strong emotional bonds. They're highly social animals that live in communities of 20-150 individuals. Chimps show emotions like joy, sadness, and empathy, and can learn sign language to communicate with humans. Sadly, chimpanzees are endangered due to habitat loss, poaching, and disease!

Manufactured in China. CollectA's Wildlife Collection celebrates our closest animal relatives and primate conservation. Jack's has a long standing history of being a Blue Ribbon Breyer dealer since 1994. Ages 3+
