Mask of the Demons, Addiction from a Spiritual Perspective

Addiction is not simply being addicted to alcohol or drugs. Addiction is a state of mind that sucks a person into its cesspool of greed, lust, gluttony, envy, vanity, deceit, selfishness, violence, abusiveness, and submissiveness.Any addiction is counterproductive because it’s a total surrendering to something or someone compulsively. It affects a person’s ability to sensibly view their own behavior. In the thoughts of an addict, they’re doing what needs to be done to stay out of the trenches of anxiety and depression, although they are not consciously aware of those facts. They actually see no wrong in their behavior. Only through self-sabotaging behavior can they live with the person they have become. “This is me, take it or leave it attitude,” is needed to justify the acceptance of themselves to themselves.
