When discussing Moscato, one must first acknowledge its origins in the Muscat family, often considered the oldest cultivated wine grape. Muscat is not just a single grape variety but a diverse group of ancient grapes that have thrived across the Mediterranean for centuries. While some varieties within this group are genetically related and others are not, all share one remarkable trait: their unmistakable, fruity aromatics. This diversity allows Muscat grapes to produce wines ranging from sweet to dry, and still to sparkling. Today, these grapes can be found in virtually every major wine-producing region around the globe. Moscato, specifically derived from Muscat Blanc, is typically crafted to be sweet, light-bodied, and lower in alcohol.
