The ZAG Ubac 102 Alpine Touring Ski is free-rando spirit incarnate. Light underfoot, the ski is discreet on the way up, the better to release its energy on the way down. This is the ski for you if you are touring to go down 10x faster than you went up. Its generous rocker line opens the door to high performance in both deep powder and changing snow conditions. It is a ski that’s straightforward, direct, and playful, shaped for the most demanding skiers.

This construction has a single objective: to provide skiers with a light, comfortable ski in all snow conditions. This is achieved by combining glass and carbon fibers, making the skis in the Freerando range twice as torsionally rigid. The Paulownia wood core adds a few extra grams of weight without affecting the feel of the snow or the durability of the material, unlike a foam core. ABS sidewalls and high-resistance steel edges ensure that this ski can withstand the shocks and impacts it may encounter throughout the winter. The construction uses a SEMI CAP sandwich construction.

The Ubac 102 is built with a SHAPE IN 5 POINTS, a specific shape that increases ski maneuverability without overly increasing rocker values. ZAG uses MULTI RADIUS SHAPING, a design method that allows radii to be varied in several independent zones. The result is a short radius underfoot, while maintaining tolerant tips in difficult snow conditions. The flex is a very rigid flex with a hint of flexibility in the tip for better lift and cushioning at high speeds.
